Ryanair GECAT

A good friend of mine is after some information about the Ryanair assessment. He has already had an interview in Dublin, and is wondering what the next stage includes. Will there be more interviews or is it just a sim check and if so, on which aircraft?

Because he does not have internet access and is therefore not even registered on PPRuNe,

This might be a bit outta date because my friend started flying for them some time ago and I cannot be sure of the validitty of this but here's my pennys worth anyway. After the interview he was called to the sim it was the BAC1-11 at Dublin. There was no autopilot and he had to do a standard Liffy departure then some general handling and after that he had to track a Vor back I'm not sure whether it was a non precision approach or a precision one.I dont fly for Ryanair so this information is just from what I remember he said to me in a conversation some time ago.I hope this is helpful its probably nearly true but as you know yourself they could use any of the sims at Dublin and any procedures they wanted. After the sim I think subject to company medical he was offered the job.My advice to your buddy is to hire out a sim for a couple of hours, know how to use the autopilot in it;but fly without it in the sim.Just spend a load of time going through sid and stars out of Dublin, maybe a couple of Holds and ILS's.It could end up totally different from what I've just said but if your mate can fly most of the procedures out of Dublin without autopilot he/she should be fine.Hope it helps and best of luck!!!

Well,

As you are talking about GCAT i presume your friend currently has no 737 rating. Therefore as he is in the same boat as me i presume the selection procedure he will be going through will be the same.
As you stated an interview with ryanir, and then he/she can expect another interview but with GCAT itself. This is supposed to be the more technical of the two interviews but in my case ended up being the debrief and informal chat following the sim ride. The sim ride is then just a simple t/o, SID and STAR, most likely all at the same airfield. This was done in the B737-300 sim at Gatwick. No asymmetric.
Hope that puts your friends mind at ease, this was what i faced but then again things might be different for them.

Expect some NDB tracking, make sure you turn the right way to establish on a radial.
As previous post mentioned the autopilot is not used but depending on the sim used and the instructor you might be able to use the flight director.
Expect some level, climbing and descenting steep turns 45AOB.
If you're rated or have jet experience I think you could expect an engine failure at some time. If a v1cut pitch to 13degrees nose up, pos climb, gear up and the job's a goodun.
Also look at the dublin sid and also the willo plates for Gatwick.
Cheers

Question

Anyone got some info on the tech' questions at the interview?
This would be more than helpful.
