Type Rating Research

Hi Guys,
I've been doing a bit of type rating research in an effort to bust out of the GA trap that I have got myself into.

I currently hold a CPL in New Zealand, Australia, Botswana and Canada (Based on my NZ CPL).
I'm only around 10hrs night from getting my requirements for an ATPL Licence. I've written the ATPL for New Zealand, but need to hire a twin pressurized aircraft for the flight test. They are hard to find and will cost me 3 kidneys and 2 livers.
Will be writing the Aussie ATPLs soon since they have pushed the date back with the flight test requirements until 2014.

Closing in on 3000hrs TT, 1350 Turbine, 2000PiC, 350 Actual IFR, 800hrs Multi Crew... but only 250hrs Multi. 60 of that is PiC.
1200hrs is on a C208.

I want to get into some of the Jet stuff now in South East Asia and a lot of those places need type ratings.

Now the fun begins. Shopping around for A320/B737 type rating places are pretty wide ranging. Some charging $25k, others $8k.
If I decide to go down the paying for a type rating route.... what to do next? I assume that I will have to validate my licence to either FAA or JAR to be able to get the rating put on my licence, unless I can find a place that is certified for NZCAA/CASA/CAAB/TC?
Has anyone gone about getting a rating put onto their licence? Mainly in NZ or Aussie?

I was thinking of finding someone in the states that is TC certified, getting it on my Canadian licence, then I can transfer it to my NZ licence from there? Is that possible? I can't convert my TC licence to any other licence since it is based on my NZ licence.
Other option was to write my Canadian ATPLs, sit the flight test required and then it will be a stand alone ATPL, which I can transfer things around.

Is there much of a market out there at the moment with bare basic type ratings? As far as I can see, most companies want time on type of around 200-300hrs... but then how are you meant to get into a lot of these entry level companies without jumping ship from majors, or enrolling in a pay-to-fly scheme... which I'm not prepared to do.

Anyone here willing to steer me in the right direction?
