Question Oh Lardy!

Got to go do the Class 1 medical. However, over a decade of rich living in IT, sat behind a desk all day has left my 6 pack looking like it's lost the plastic thing that holds them together. Seriously though, can you fail on weight/body mass index? I'm a little over 6 foot, and now weigh 15.5 stone. I have given up the pizza's and beer, and started exercising regularly, and lost half a stone in the last 3 weeks. Don't know how long it takes from booking the medical to actually getting it done, but wonder if I should leave it another month or so....

Booking takes about 6 weeks I think but you can always ring Gatwick to verify the waiting time and take it from there.

As long as your blood pressure is within limits you will be fine. You will probably get a short lecture on BMI though. I did, I'm 6' and 16 stone and I like pizza and beer as well.

Davep,

I too had a "problem" with my BMI and the Docs at Gatport Airwick basically said I had until my renewal to lose two points (Mine was mid thirties).

The way to calculate your BMI is:

KG. .-----. .Hieght in Metres (squared)

Any thing over 30 for a male is obese (29 for the women)

Hope this helps.

Davep,. . Just been for my class 1 , BMI is not a factor in them isuing a class 1 yet as already has been said.

With regards to the waiting time for getting an appointment i rang up on Friday last week and got an 0830 appointment for the following Monday , because apparently the afternoon time is more popular so there is a waiting period for them.So if you don't mind getting up early and want to miss the waiting then book an am slot.

hope this helps.
