FAA IR to EASA IR advice

This post is on behalf of my friend....

He will be leaving the USA with a FAA MEIR and when he leaves to go back to Europe he will have the Temporary Airmen Certificate for the MEIR as the original license can take upto 8 weeks to arrive.

Question is whether he can commence EASA MEIR conversion with just this Airmen Certificate or will he have to wait until the Full plastic license card arrives?

If he can, can he also do his Test with the certificate or again wait?

He has emailed the CAA but no direct response so just wondering if anyone has been down this same route?

Depends on the individual NAA whether they accept Temporary Airman Certificates and then whatever the school has in their training/operations manual.

So the answer could and will change depending on the school of choice.

Either way card must be in your hand for licence issue.
