IR Theory Credits

Hello,

I am PPL holder and also PPRune virgin. I am looking at starting an IR(A) course and am exploring the theory options.

Currently my train of thought is to complete the 7 IR(A) theory examinations. I am also considering keeping the option open of getting my CPL later on and so am weighing up wether to complete all 14 ATPL exams.

I am also aware that somewhere over the horizon EASA is looking at reducing the theory requirements for a CB IR(A). Is there any update on when this will come into place?

Onto my main question, does anyone know if it is possible to complete just about half (all the applicable ATPL exams) towards an IR and then look at completing the rest of the ATPL exams later on (within the time limits).

Basically, can an IR(A) be issued having only passed the ATPL exams that are applicable (i.e not all 14) and does anyone know specifically which exams these are?

Thanks!
