B1900 sim in Europe

Hi

I'm planning in the spring to convert my ATP to Jaa ATP and I'd like to find a B1900 sim in the JAA area to do the flight test on. Failing that, an aircraft.

Any ideas on where one is and cost ???

Cheers

Before rushing off to sign up for a B1900 Type Rating, you need to check that you meet all the requirements for the issue of an EASA ATPL - JAA no longer exists!! There are issues with some aircraft being recognised for ATPL in some countries but not in EASA.

Do you have:

*EASA Part-MED Class One Medical

*1,500 Hours Total Time

*500 Hours on Multi Pilot Aircraft (MPA) - This must be an aircraft specified by EASA as a MPA or may be, subject to the agreement of the state issuing the licence and Type Rating, a Single Pilot Aircraft which has been operated as a MPA under the terms of an Air Operators Certificate (AOC).

The 1500 hours must also include:

*250 Hours PIC

*200 Hours Cross-Country

*75 Hours Night

*100 Hours Instrument Flight

You also need:

*Passes in all 14 ATPL Theoretical Knowledge subjects - As a holder of an ICAO ATPL you are exempt attending a full course of study but you still need to pass the exams.

*Have a current Type Rating on the aircraft to be entered into the EASA Part-FCL ATPL

I'm afraid there may be a problem here. I've checked the UK CAA Standards Document 31 ver.111 and there are no companies approved by the UK CAA to conduct B1900 Type Rating courses. In fact, on checking the EASA Type Certificates it seems that there is no EASA certification for the B1900 or the C/D variants (I may be wrong but I can't find it).

http://easa.europa.eu/certification/...es_Non-EUR.pdf

If this is the case, then you may not be able to enter the B1900 onto an EASA Part-FCL ATPL as a Type Rating. As such, you would need to do a Type Rating course on an EASA MPA, before which you would need to complete a Multi-Crew Cooperation Course.

Please note that this is my interpretation of the regs and you should check with the national aviation authority of the country you wish to issue your licence - the country which issues your medical will be the State of Licence Issue.

The first thing I would do is (a) check whether they can issue a B1900 TR and if so (b) check that they will accept your hours as Multi Pilot Aircraft (assuming you have been operating it as MPA).

Good luck.
