Renewal Type rating - do i need base training

I'd like to renew my 737 type rating. Have a couple thousand hours on it but it expired more than 5 years ago.

According to EASA, it is suggested that I would require to the full type rating again. However what about the base training? Some TRTO that I have contacted tells me I do not need to do the base training (4 ldg) others tells me it has to be done. Counting that this is a cost of about 5000 euro, does someone has the answer to that question?

I sent an email to the UK CAA but expect the answer within probably 2 years.....
