Question Return of the 'Old system'

I hear from a friend who's a BA F/O, that there is a rumour going round that the JAA is about to be scrapped and replaced by the old CAA licensing system.

Any one have anything to add to this? Is it significant that the last ATPL sitting is this week?

Question

JB007,

What makes you so confident, or are you putting the official Pprune view accross?

Not having a go at you, just playing devils advocate.

Cool

Having played the Russian Roulette that was the JAA ATPL exams I think it seems a shame to scrap it now people are getting through. Hopefully it's just a rumour [like it has been since the JAA exams first came in].

Welcome to aviation in the UK. Would not be the first time the rugs been pulled from under, nor would I bet on it being the last.

Wink

Polar Sterographic,

Joint Aviation Regulations are not just FCL...every area in the industry from the Quality Departments to Maintenance is now adapted to it and running to it's standards and practices...it is not going to change.

It will move forward and improve in every area compared to what was the old 'CAA System'...thats the official bit...(not the PPRuNe view...this website doesn't govern the industry just yet..but give it time!!)

As I said, a good rumour..a year ago maybe..

The old CAA system has about as much chance of returning as William Hague has of becoming Prime Minister!
