Angry More q's without a's on 737 rating

Please share your expirience on 7373EFIS type rating in USA.How to minimize expensses.How to pick up best TO?And how the hell can I avoid flying the a/c,it is damn too expensive?

Have you tried CAE in Holland ? [email protected] They can do all of the JAA type rating for about 13000 euros (if you have a partner). The only problem is that you would have to go elsewhere to do the circuits. This is still one of the cheaper options.

yes but I have icao lic + faa, so US is my only option since my country will be JAA member somwere in 22. century .Can be done around 9000$ there thats for sure.

If you are below a certain amount of hours, you need to do the acutal checkride in the aircraft. So far i know two facilities in the U.S who offer the ride in a plane. One is Continental and the other Pan am. If you really wanna do the cheapest way for a rating, take the 737-200 ride and upgrade of the EFIS series later. The rating on a 732 may cost about $ 6'000-7'000. The upgrade for EFIS types is only a few hours and costs less than an initial EFIS rating.
But remember even if you have a 737 rating, the airlines still like to see you having some actual flying time in the aircraft.

My information about the CAE course is that it is £13000 sterling - not 13000 euros.

Cool Blue,

I have the information in front of me saying 26250 euros per crew !!! ie 13125 euros per crew member.

Perhaps they got there pound sign or euro sign confused ? Would be interested to know what the correct info was - my mate is thinking of doing the course but can't find a partner.

My figure was without VAT, to make the point.
However, my info is direct and recent from the company. I quote:

COURSE PRICE:
B737-800 Pilot Type Conversion course € 42,000.-- per crew
B737-800 LOFT training (option 1) € 2,680.-- per crew
B737-800 Low visibility training (option 2) € 2,680.-- per crew

Prices are exclusive of VAT

I'm assuming that "per crew" is in fact - total cost E42k/2 [crew] = E21k [each]
Rate is approx 1.63.[E1.00 = £0.61]
E21k = £12810
With VAT this is £15052 [minus circuits in the a/c@own expense]
I reckon circuits would come out at about £4k on the top.

I'm curious about the differences in our figures. Any ideas?

Have you looked yet at JetTech? I know several people who have gone through their 737 type ratings, and yes, they do have an EFIS option.

You may be able to do a sim-only type rating depending on your past experience and certificates/ratings.

I think thank both of our figures could be correct as I am quoting prices for the B737 300/500 course which I got from the company 2 weeks ago - I have the prices in black and white. You are quoting figures for the B737 - 800 !! - no to put to fine a point on it !!!

I am not interested in point scoring - I'm simply trying to get at the facts! Assuming your figures are exc VAT, it seems amazing that the 733-5 course would be £5.5k cheaper. If this is the case I may be signing up very soon.

My mate got the info on this course and whether or not you have the correct price schedule or he has doesn't really matter. This company doesn't have access to an aircraft to do the required circuits to complete the base training - so chill out coolblue !!!

I entirely agree, it doesnt matter a jot WHO [has what etc] but establishing the facts DOES.
I'm sure we would all like to know for sure if the course is genuinely £8k sterling or not.
To the best of my knowledge the circuits can be done anywhere so that isnt a really a problem.
For the benefit of all I will publish my own findings [if I can], re this apparently cheap 733-5 rating in due course.
In the meantime I would appreciate it if you would refrain from making un-called for personal comments.
