Time Building in the United States

I am a English Pilot flying for a prominent US carrier. My son who is in the lower sixth form of an English school wants to be an airline pilot. (Who doesn't, it's better than working for a living.)He just spent 3 weeks here in Florida and with my help completed his Private licence, now the problem is to build up the necessary time to become employable.
I was considering buying something like a Cessna Cardinal with fixed gear and constant speed prop but feel that investing $40k + is not something I really want to do alone.
Is anyone interested in buying say a half or quater share on a suitable aircraft and then sharing the expenses while those concerned get the required time.
I firmly believe that it is possible to buy and aircraft with low engine times use it for say 5-600 hours and sell it for at least what was paid for it if not at a profit.
DOC's (Direct Operating Costs) on an aicraft of that type would probably be say 8 galls (US) per hour @ $2 plus $7.5 engine reserves (assumes factory reman engine with 2000 hour TBO) so say $25 an hour plus repairs tiedown at $50 per month and insurance. On top of that would be misc costs of charts, oil etc but all minor.
I am a current CFI, CFII and MEI with 8000 hours TT so may be available for some tuition but certainly for help and advice as required.
You can still fly around the US with a tent in the back of the airplane and have a great time visiting all the sites, and cities get weather, mountain flying, remember the USA is bigger than Europe and is just a diverse. living expenses should be no more than living at home. Also it can all be done on a visitors visa.
Clearly if anyone was interested we would have to work out the rules of how this partnership would work. Many of my colleagues share aircraft so there is no shortage of models on which to base an agreement.

Gspot,
For your info, buying may not be the way to go. And again because of the Aussie dollar been so bad you Quid is buying nearly three bucks here in Aus, OK closer to 2 and a half etc so a cheap airfare and a whirlwind 3-4 week trip around Aussie will net him required hours.
There have been quite a few german and US pilots using the dollar as a means of achieving same.
Want more info call [email protected]
Best wishes.
