Post Radio Navigation Help

Hi,

Can anyone help me, by writing easy step-by-step answers, on how I can get a position fix using either a VOR or an ADF? I have my skills test on Friday and I need to brush up on these skills....I can't find any books, etc, with it in.

Thanks,

TP01

Question

Shouldn't you know this by now?
Try Waterstones or Dillons for books!

Dial two VORs, draw lines to them, where the lines meet is where you are, give or take. Remember, you have to ident the VOR signal. Me thinks.

Wink

Trevor Thom's Air Pilot Manual Book 5 should help you.

Tune and ident suitable VOR ie one you think is reasonably close. Twiddle OBS until needle centres with a FROM indication. Draw line FROM VOR on this radial. Do same with second VOR and you will have a fix accepting that there is some error associated with your movement between the two lines of bearing measurements. Also do a common-sense check of result to ensure that you have drawn radials correctly.
