ME/IR or Just IR?

Hi, I am wondering if someone can help? I have been flying on an ICAO licence for the last 2/3 years and am now back in the UK and need to revalidate my UK JAA IR.

As my last IR on my ICAO licence was done in a plane and is still valid, I can do this in a Sim unless I need to revalidate my ME Class rating, in which case I need to do it in a plane but I think at this stage to help the job search I just need a valid IR, anyone think different?

Thanks WT

You can just renew your instrument rating in a sim every alternate year, as long as you do it before it lapses. If its already lapsed then you can only do it in the aircraft.

If you are looking to start a first multi crew type rating at some point, the requirement is a for a valid multi engine instrument rating, the mep rating is of no interest.
