ATPL newbie
Hi all.
I am currently studying my PPL. I have done all the ground exams etc.
I am really not sure if I will get through the ATPL exams, I am just wondering at the moment what my next move is!
Maths is not really my strong point, fine at arithmatic plus I never really payed much interest in physics at school which was a long time ago! I am currently 29!
I found the PPL exams ok, but would not say I cruised through them, but I did get quite good marks!!
Maybe I am just being negative, but I think classroom stuff maybe my best option...
Just wondering if anyone has got through them who has had similar issues to me with maths and physics!! Can you do the exams 1 to 1 with anyone?
Anyway many thanks!

Hi Mark,
I wouldn't be too worried about the difficulty of the maths & physics re. ATPL. I'm by no means a wizz and I found none of the individual concepts especially difficult...... It was the volume of work that I found most challenging. If you devote enough time & effort then I'm sure you'll get through them without too much trouble.
Don't let self-doubt prey too much on your mind as that could end up being the biggest obstacle!
Good luck!

While it's true that Physics plays a larger part in the studies (it is relevant for at least two subjects), you by no means need to know everything, and your school will typically provide the basic information you need. Oxford do CDs for the relevant basics anyway. The maths? A little bit of algebra, be able to manipulate formulae. You don't need calculus, except to understand the basics behind many processes (e.g. Inertial Nav), plane geometry, SIN, COS, TAN, etc.
I wouldn't be putting obstacles in the way. Just do it - you may surprise yourself. We have students of 53 passing their exams.
