Angry FAA currency in india/NZ

I have a FAA CPL with ME rating and have last flown in sept 2008.

I am planning to get my FAA CPL converted to NZ CPL but my FAA CPL is not current as i have not flown since more than 24 months.

IS there any way to get it current in India or in NZ??

Because i dont want to go to states than to Nz.

Please help!

You need a Flight Review in accordance with 14 CFR Part 61.56
So you have three choices:
  • Find a FAA certified CFI
  • Fly with an FAA certified examiner or DPE
  • FLy with a FAA Inspector

This is where you cane search for FAA designated pilot examiners;
Federal Aviation Administration - Designee Locator
Try the Asia forum to look for a CFI/CFII/MEI.

How much experience do you have on the US CPL?

You may find that the NZCAA will not recognise the US CPL and may only issue you a New Zealand PPL based on the US CPL, and even for that to happen you will need a current US CPL.

You may need to do the CPL exams a CPL flight test to get a New Zealand CPL, plus the relevant exams and flight test for the IR if you want that too.

What is your reason for getting a New Zealand CPL? There is no shortage of local pilots so finding work may not be easy.

I have around 242 hrs on ma FAA CPL with ME and IR.

The only reason going there is because It is easy to then convert to Indian CPL and also the school says that they have vacancies, if i do my CFI there as well.

But as my FAA is not current, I dont wanna go to states than to NZ. I mean it'll be very expensive and time consuming to travel here and there.

So, was wondering if i can get it done in India somehow!!!!

Can it be done? on Indian reg A/C ??

In my experience, with these hours the NZCAA is very unlikely to give you a NZCPL based on your FAA CPL.

There are obvious questions that need to be asked. Why is there an need for a New Zealand CPL? Wouldn't it be much easier to just convert the FAA CPL to an Indian one, especially as you will probably need to do all the exams, recurrenct training, and licence issue flight test to get a New Zealand licence.

I would check with NZCAA to see if they will convert your FAA licence first before you waste your money.

Which school is this?

Why the need to do an Instructor Rating? Is that just so you can get into the school?

Most schools I know of have vacancies without the need for doing an Instructor Rating.

The reason for flying in NZ is that they have FRTOL unlike USA.

And for instructors rating is to gain more experience in flying rather than just doing normal flying.

I hope this might help during job interviews.

Anyways, I think there is the problem of getting my FAA license current in India or NZ, so I will have to think something else unless there is some way!
