The difference between two good schools?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some objective opinions and experienced advice from those out there.

I am due to do my ME rating and MEIR course afer completing me SE CPL. I have come down to two schools:
1. Stapleford Flight Centre
2.Cabair based in Cranfield (the integrated school).

I have visited both schools, spoken with current and ex-students form both places, and have trawled through these forums. I am very impressed with both places, their first series pass rates, instruction and the such. There is very little between the price as well.

I was more impressed with the setup and site at SFC and could see the environment being more conducive to my approach. The school at Cabair Cranfield was ok, however I have one query which is now the decision making factor before I decide to part with my hard earned cash:

Would having the name Cabair at Cranfield (for a modular student) on a new cadets CV give a higher chance of getting an interview invite at airlines more so then attending a less branded school like SFC?

I believe both are quality training establishments and neither have links with airlines but I have been advised by some friends that the name of the school does make a difference, and it would be a more tactful decision to go with CabAir Cranfield.

Through my research I am none the wiser on this advice, so any inputs are gladly welcome.

Thanks

Gwizz

I'm not very experienced with this and MEIR is a long way off for me but I believe Cranfield has ILS which may prove cheaper in terms of flying time. Stapleford's closest is either Cambridge or Southend? Your transit time to aerodromes with ILS could be a factor in terms of flying costs?

I could be talking rubbish though, others feel free to criticise

AndoniP,
You are right about the ILS and the closest being Southend for SFC. However cost apart, its more the query whether the name of one of these schools will prove more beneficial then the other. Both seem quite decent in that respect.

Reading this site over the years it just seems like a lottery as to who gets picked and from which school.

That said I'm sure Cabair is a slightly better known name, however Stapleford is well respected. I know that doesn't help but I would personally feel comfortable with either, maybe edging towards Cabair slightly.

If accommodation wasn't a problem I'd stay up at Cranfield.
