captain line training, PIC or PICUS

When doing the line training for commander uppgrade, do you log as PICUS or PIC or both

Does it matter if the line training captain sits in the right hand seat or jump seat.

Until final line check you are a trainee captain. The training captain is the commander (who signs the tech log??).

When I went through I logged PICUS up to and including initial line check (training captain in right hand seat) and logged PIC during /after final line check (FO in RHS, training captain on jump seat).
