FLying Time Aviation
Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone could help. I have just finished my ATPL theory, and seriously considering doing my CPL/IR at Flying Time Aviation in Shoreham-by-sea. Today been there, and spoke to some people, and they seemed very very nice. One instructor spent an hour and a half showing us around and explaining stuff we have to do. Whereas in other schools we were shoved a booklet and dealt with in a matter of 15 minutes. Has anyone ever been to this school? What feedback is there out there? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of starting the CPL/ME-IR with FTA in April also,
Any info would be appreciated.
I will be there in the next month for a tour to check it out but is there
any students on here willing to share their experiences?

Flyingtime ok to good reputation. Suggest you find out about the extras they might hide away such as landing, approach fees and any excesses that could pop up on your bill.
Compare Flyingtime with their competitors, DA40/42 operators would be Stapleford, Atlantic Flight Training and Cabair.

What extra's do they hide away????
It says on their website that all approach/landing fees etc. are all included in the price on their website...

I can highly recommend Flying Time. Excellent fleet, great staff with a professional yet friendly attitude.
The landing fees and approach fees are included in the cost of the course, obviously If you go over the course syllabus then you will have to pay for the landing fees, but I certainly didn't and don't remember anyone else there doing so as the allowance is actually quite generous!
I really enjoyed my time there and am very glad I chose to do my training there, it's a difficult and daunting choice I know!

Good Schools
Be very careful about who you choose, you will be spending a lot of money with them. Worth asking ex-students esp if they have left the school unhappy or are having problems, I am sure you will find a few.

Can I ask your connection to Flying Time Aviation? Where you are getting all this information from? Are you a former student? I think people would like to know. I ask this because you came on here a few days ago and only posted on FTA threads with nothing but negative feedback. This is sometimes the actions of a former member of staff who have left through no choice of their own and are upset by that.
I have renewed my IR and MEP with FTA over the last 3 years and have been satisfied with the service.

I am pleased that you are satisfied with the training at FTA. Just for the record I am not a member of staff (And have never been) at FTA.
I don't see how you can regard my post as anti-FTA as I said that to be careful which school to choose, and to find out from students that were dis-satisfied with the course as well. Clearly be asking current students you will only be selecting those that are happy with the course, or at least those that are not so unhappy as to try elsewhere and hence will give a bias to your research. Please be careful to avoid any such bias with *any* school that you enquire about. Most schools will be able to produce at least one happy student, but it is the unhappy ones which are needed in addition to give a true balanced impression of the school.
Some of my infomation comes from my partner who used to be in the accommodation trade and hence met a few of the FTA students and they were always grumbling about things at FTA.
