Cheap twin in the UK?

Hi there

I am converting my South African CPL to a JAA frozen ATPL. After the exams are done I need to do 15 hours of flying and then the fligh tests. Can anyone give me some advice of which school(s) might be a good choice for me? I am looking for a resonably priced twin. They also need to have a FNPT2 for training.

Hope you can help, thanks in advance!

The cheapest I've seen of late is the Tecnam P2006 operated by British Airways Flying club, based at Wycombe Air Park (still known to most of us by its old name of Booker airfield).

I may be wrong, but while the Airways flying club can do renewals/revalidations for the IR, I don't think that the club is approved for initial IR or foreign IR conversion training.

However I do believe Aeros at Gloucester will also be getting the Tecnam twin.

Try Airways Flight Training at Exeter- they do initial, and foreign license conversions on a BE76 and they also have a FNPT2 flt sim.
Great bunch of guy's there - great instructors.

I can thoroughly recommend the Duchess at Conington. Julie and Gavin helped me immensely. Have to say I was not impressed by Airways at Wycombe, I booked to do 23 hours in the tecnam, only to arrive and be told I could only do 5 - then the aircraft would be out of action for 5 days. The fact I worked 30 days solid in order to get the time off from work in Spain didn't help matters!
I did around 18 hrs and my ME CRI on the Duchess - fantastic aircraft, much more forgiving than the seneca.
Don't think they have an FNPT II though.

Good luck
