Training and Tax

Hi all,

I read the terms and endearments forum noting in particular the fact that FR pilots need to essentially declare themselves as contractors (in the eyes of the relevant revenue system of the country in which they are based) when they sign up through Brookfield etc.

What's interesting is the fact that VAT payed on the TR (e5500 of a total e32750) can be claimed back as these guys and girls are registered as self employed.

My question is, could / should pilots like myself (slowly working their way through the early stages of the modular modular route) be looking into doing the same thing, registering as self employed, and claiming the VAT back on all flight training like CPL ME/IR MCC etc..?
