CPL/ME/IR/MCC on a student loan?
Hi all,
Is there an organisation/university/training centre that will allow you to do your CPL/ME/IR and MCC on a student loan?
I'm aware that this is potentially non existant, but wondering if any of you know something that I don't?
Thanks.

If you are referring to cushdy cushdy student loans akin to what you might get for attending university, then as far as I know, no.
Up until a couple of years ago CTC would screen you extensively and then if you met their entry criteria, effectively pay for all your training using an unsecured loan. Since the recession hit however, as far as I know this is no longer the case. They do seem to offer some sort of protection in case you struggle with your training at some point, however like all the other options out there at the moment, you essentially have to pay for it yourself and bare virtually all the risks yourself.
I'm only a wannabe PPL doing my atpls and building hours, but as far as i know from my extensive research you basically pay for it all yourself. No easy options as far as I know. However, if someone knows something I don't, i'm all ears.

The only way you could do it is go for a degree like the one offered at Kingston or Leeds, although you dont get the ATPL exams at Leeds. You will hopefully have the ATPL exams and PPL done whilst being at university. Save some money whilst working during summer holidays and Easter/Xmas breaks. You could go to the states for the hour building. Come back to the UK for CPL/MEIR and MCC at somewhere decent. London Met will give you a decent price, and dont believe the crap about having to do it on a Full Flight Sim! Anyway good luck with what you do. Im not sure if you'll be able to get it all for a decent price. Another thing, if the price quoted for pilot training by your potential Uni is more expensive than doing if off your own back. Forget it

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'm not new to the flight training aspect of things, I have been doing it for a while, having gained JAR PPL, Night, IMC and doing ATPLs currently, so it's only the last bit I need to sort out, having financed it myself and being debt free (at the moment) over the many years, but not an easy task.
I was hoping that if I could finish the training on a student loan then that would minimise any payments back rather than paying large sums back through e.g. a bank loan.
Cheers for the help, I will keep my eyes open for alternatives. I wonder how the payments are managed through training providers in europe?

Keep battling on Spike. It's cool that you're gradually building it up without going into debt and shows a level head and real determination. I'm doing it much the same way whilst trying to carry on developing an I.T career along side it. Might be easier for me as I still live with my folks and most of my hobbies (Apart from aviation) are things like walking, cycling and camping, which thankfully cost bugger all! Of course there is the odd few beers but everyones entitled to a few luxurys aye How old are you, if you don't mind me asking ?
PM me if you like. Can swap stories to the long hard road to fATPL.
