Initial IR Looming. Renewing Class 1 Medical West London, Heathrow, Slough area.

Good Afternoon all,

I have my IR test coming later this week and I completely forgot that my Class 1 expired in August 2009.

Can anyone suggest if there are any AME's near Heathrow or West London, Windsor, Datchet area. Also, do they all charge the same amoufor renewal of a class 1.

Lastly, would anyone happen to know just how long my eye precription can be valid for. Is it yearly or two years?

Many Thanks all!
Meli

Well i can't help you recommending a AME apart from point you towards the CAA website...

But......

You don't need a valid Class one to sit the IR test.

So you can leave it for a bit if you like.

It's my belief

and by way I haven't looked this up.

You don't need a valid 1st class medical. You do need to have had an Initial 1st class though.

So it appears you had a first class done before so it should be in order. Failing that I would ask the FTO which you are attending.

IR is a rating and PPL can obtain it with a class 2 plus IR extras which from memory is a hearing check.

The Class one includes this so if it has lapsed to a class two your covered.
