PFD - 'eyebrows'
As per image below, can anyone confirm what the orange 'eyebrows' indicate on the PFD?
I've read two conflicting answers.
1. Don't exceed pitch angle with current power setting.
2. If TOGA - A/T is pressed, the aircraft will climb above the eyebrow attitude to avoid terrain ahead.
Answer number 1 seems more viable, but any help is appreciated.

It's answer number 1 (well, almost)
For the 737NG the FCOM description is:
Pitch Limit Indication (amber)
Indicates pitch limit (stick shaker activation for existing flight conditions).
• displayed when the flaps are not up.
• displayed at slow speeds with the flaps up.

They are the PLI's (Pitch Limit Indicators). On a 75/76 they indicate the onset of the stick shaker in the current configuration. I don't have the full "spec" to hand, but suspect thrust, bank angle, actual G etc all have an input to the displayed pitch limit.
They are only displayed when the flaps are out of the up position. The 753 also displays them when speedbrake is extended.

On the 767 the PLI's will also be displayed when the flaps are up.
From the Ops Manual;
"The additional Pitch Limit Indicator will be displayed when:
(a) The flaps are up, and
(b) The IAS is less than 1.14 ´ stick shaker speed or within the lower
amber band, and
(c) The Mach number is less than 0.70."
