JAA CPL MEIR to FAA CPL MEIR?

Hi,

Im looking to find out how long it takes and how much it costs to convert a JAA CPL MEIR to an FAA CPL MEIR? I have tried to contact a few schools and as yet had no response! Has anyone completed this process and have any information that might help me?

Thanks in advance

MAX

Thumbs up Crystal River

Hi,

Just finished mine at Crystal Aero Group, Florida. Highly recommend them. One to one training and very friendly school with accomodation within walking distance from the airport Crystal Aero Group - Full Service Aviation Company Offering Pilot Training, Charter Flights, Air Tours and Maintenance Services

E-mail them your request and they should get back to you pretty quickly.

Good luck!

Mike

Here we go:
  • Apply for a US PPL + ME based on your JAA CPL, no need to do the IR also since it will NOT carry over to your US CPL
  • Airmen Certification: Verify the Authenticity of a Foreign License, Rating, or Medical Certification
  • Complete a flight review in accordance with 61.56, no reason why this can't be part of the training that you will take.
  • Instrument written test, free practice tests at Pilot Practice Page
  • Instrument flight/ ground training to proficiency, probably 10-15 hrs each
  • Instrument check ride w/examiner
  • About 15 hrs of SE CPL training, this includes the dual day and dual night cross countries that need to be done. The rest is the CPL maneuvers which is completely different from what they do in Europe, don't forget the written test
  • 6-10 hrs of Multi engine training to proficiency, you've just done your Instrument so you should be familiar with all local approaches.
  • CPL Multi engine check ride w/ examiner

Thats about the outline.
Plan about 3-4 weeks if you want to have a bit of a life also.
Cost depends on which school/ equipment you choose.
PM if you need info
