Best PPL/CPL course books

I work as a ground theory instructor at a university in Thailand.
I did my theory and flight training in Australia back in the late 70's.
I used the Trevor Thom couse kit and found it very good.
I still like to refer to his books for reference.

Considering my students here are not training for CASA exams I am looking for the best theory course books which are internationally applicable.

I have heard Bob Taits books are the best but it appears to me they are more focused on Australian conditions and CASA exams.

Any suggestions appreciated.

For (FW) Professional:

JAR Professional Pilot Studies

If you want the TOC, which is pretty much the syllabus, I can send it as a PM.

And Private:

JAR Private Pilot Studies

If you can send me i appreciate, i was reading about the book and looks its more towards to the theory, wich im already taking in ATPL groundschool.

Looking for something very pratical, that tells about manouevers in CPL, IR pratical, etc

Mental flying before and during pratical training reduces your hours/costs significantly, just need to find the right book/syllabus

thank you

I am currently in my last phse of JAA ATPL distance learning, and have tried a number of alternatives to the books supplied with my course (Nordian). After sampling a number of other authors, I found the JAA ATPL series from Jeppesen to have the clearest text & best diagrams / illustrations.

We recommend our students and instructors to use the books of William K. Kershner for reference and study. These are the Student Pilot Manual, Advance Pilot's Flight Manual, and The Flight Instructor's Manual. Although we provide our students FAA handbooks (more cheaper and useful all the way to the ATPL) such as the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Airplane Flying Handbook, and Instrument Flying Handbook as their main source of information, William K. Kershner's manual are more detailed and thoroughly explained. Not because the author was my mentor , his books are more helpful making it easier for students for their ground and flight training.

Best books

I have seen these Pooleys guides for sale in various places:

Pooleys Question Bank CPL ATPL Volume One on eBay (end time 30-Jan-10 16:43:37 GMT)

Pooleys Question Bank CPL ATPL Volume Two on eBay (end time 30-Jan-10 16:48:20 GMT)

Are the Pooleys books any good?

What about the Keyfacts books that this guy also has for sale?

Opinions greatly received
