Degraded audio system functions

when would you use this?whats it actualy for?

Normally the audio systems are located in a common remote electronics unit in the E/E compartment. They function >independently<.

These audio systems are normally controlled by each related ACPs at each crewmember station.

***If the remote electronics unit OR an ACP malfunctions*** the audio system operation can be switched to the degraded mode. In this mode, the affected crew member can only communicate on one radio.
