JAA/FAA Temp Cert
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone s up to date with availing of a temp cert for hour building in the us. I arrived a couple of weeks ago and was under the illusion that all I needed to do was make a visit to a local FAA office and get it issued on the day. Now, I have faxed a letter to to Oklahoma, requesting my temp cert but Ive been told it can take up to 90days, and also I have to get a letter of "proof" from the CAA at a cost of £42. Is it possible to speed the process up or can anyone shed some light on this situation.
Dan

Dan,
you could have faxed the letter to the Oklahoma City and to the FSDO before your arrival. Most of our students that come to us they send the paperwork before they arrive and it takes a quick visit to FSDO.
Good luck

Oh dear. The process works like this:
1. Request foreign license verification letter from FAA and nominate FSDO.
2. Request CAA verification.
3. Within 90 days, Part A of FAA letter arrives at your home address.
4. Make appointment at FSDO.
5. Show up with license, logbook, passport and FAA letter. They will have Part B of the same letter.
6. Temp certificate issued on the spot.
7. Proper FAA license arrives in post a couple of months later.
Sorry to say I think you're going to be sat around for a while.
