Airline Academy of Australia (AAA)
Hi Guys,
Having discussed this topic with a moderator, I am going to go about this in the ‘right’ way. This thread is completely independent from the previously closed thread.
There are a large of number of angry and frustrated ex-students of Airline Academy of Australia (Brisbane, Australia), who were delivered a poor standard of training, and/or were financially taken advantage of. I personally had a long standing battle with management over a large sum of money upon which I was legally entitled to, of which they had decided to invest. The training provided was poor and unprofessional at times with little respect shown to students, with a specific number of students personally belittled at various times.
Of course, an alarm bell rings when you realise that they require almost $13,000 paid up-front, every few months. The QANTAS / Swinburne university affiliation that they have, is used as somewhat of a carrot of which they dangle in front of prospective students - it means absolutely nothing. I was apart of an intake of 14 ab-initio students and within 7 months, 11 of those 14 had left the 'Academy'. This speaks volumes.
My personal advice is to stay well away from 'AAA'. It's all well and good to criticise them without showing reason, but hopefully I have been able to do that. Anyone wanting to know anything further please feel free to ask.
Any current or ex-students are invited to share their experiences, in a constructive manner.

Wasn't a pleasant experience at AAA
Yeah I am one of those frustrated and angry ex-students....
I agree with you Rodrigues, taking the approach you're taking is much more constructive especially on advising potential student pilots looking for a flying school in Brisbane.
My experience was very much along the same lines as you Rodrigues. I was treated like I was not worthy to be at AAA, yet AAA were happy to take my money; I was paying large sums of money to be there. How any flying school expects to get the best out of their students by tearing them down rather than building them up - goes against all reasonable understanding??
In all fairness not everyone at AAA were bad, there are a lot of good people, unfortunately they were overshadowed by the bad apples, and I do mean bad apples!
My advice to any future student pilot looking at AAA as a potential flying school - is to stay away, stick to a small professional organisation who want you to succeed and succeed with you. Look for a flying school that will take equal pride in your accomplishments as you progress.
I advanced in leaps and bounds once I left that stress bowl that is AAA.
Try to avoid the temptation that sucked me - the Qantas & Griffith hype that they love to dangle as an incentive.
