FAA training acquired already counting towards JAA PPL?

I have built up some hours training towards my FAA PPL but am now considering making the change and aquiring my JAA PPL in Europe. My question is this;

Would the hours I already have built towards my FAA PPL count towards my JAA PPL, as I have enough hours for the JAA and have practised the manouvres and FAA checkride with an instructor here in the US repeatedly already?

Thanks

There are schools in the US that can allow you to do the JAA PPL. The both courses (Faa-Jaa) have some different manoeuvres and requirements. Chandelles and lazy 8's etc are not on the JAA PPL syllabus. I am not sure if you could change and bring your hours with you unless you were already attending a JAA approved school as their instructors have to do some sort of basic course before they are allowed to give JAA PPL instruction. If your hours were done through a FAA instructor at an FAA only school then my understanding would be the hours will not count. Best give the Caa a quick call to b sure.

LASORS.

Would be the first step before contacting the CAA.

As the U.S.A. is an ICAO country then your hours can count towards your PPL but I believe not all of them will count.

"In circumstances where previous flying training
towards an ICAO PPL(A) (non-JAR-FCL) has been
conducted but no licence has been issued, PLD will
consider the crediting of such flight time towards the
issue of a JAR-FCL PPL(A). In all cases, applicants
must apply in writing to PLD enclosing appropriate
training records and flying logbooks for the PPL
training received. PLD will review the training
records to establish a course of training and advise
the applicant accordingly."

Taken from LASORS, section C.

Thanks,
In that case, I have some excess of hours for the JAA PPL so at this point I am not too worried I will need to begin building hours again. note to self ''I must purchase a lasors!''...

by the way, 'PLD'?

Save your money for more useful documents - LASORS is available electronically, LASORS 2008 | Personnel Licensing | Safety Regulation

It is guidance material (not written by law professionals) and contains a few errors. Saves the CAA outsourcing the helpdesk to New Delhi though as it contains answers to many FAQs.

PLD = Personnel Licensing Department. Part of the UK CAA's SRG (Safety Regulation Group).

If you decide not to forego the FAA practical, then see JAR-FCL 1.015(c) and 1.016, together with Appendix 2 to JAR-FCL 1.015. Amendment 5 (in force in the UK) available here. UK FRTOL will be required also as the UK is not impressed by FCC's interpretation of ITU Radio Regulations.
