Licence/IR conversion all done in a SIM ??

Hi

I was after some info regarding converting my Australian IR to a UK (JAA) IR. But I was wondering if you could do a full conversion in a Simulator something along the lines of a SAAB 340.
The reason I ask is that it seems silly paying a flying school astronomial amounts of cash and basically paying for something I already have a M/E IR .It seems to make sense that if it was possable I would be better of putting the money into a type rating and gaining a IR conversion that way basically killing two birds with one stone for a little extra.
Any genuine advice would be much appreciated or even a reference to conversions / training in the AIP,s would be great.

LASORS is your friend.

Section E.

Basically no, you can only do 10 hours max. in a sim unless you have an ICAO ATPL/IR with over 1,500 hours.

Cheers
