You'll get a better answer in the GD&P forums. They cater for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
However, for some general advice, what's good for one person may not be good for another. The best school is the one with the instructor that suits you.
*What's the student/instructor ratio?
*What's the availability of aircraft like?
*especially, who does the maintenance? - solely for that school or are they in a queue?
*availability on weekends? (if that's when you train)
*transit times to training areas
*in house CASA examiner
*copies of the syllabus. (you should buy one any way as a cross reference)
*access to theory instructors.
If you want to get a CPL & CIR (Commercial lic and command instrument rating).
Is that possible at this school? How much experience has the CIR instructor got as well as commercial experience.
*Does the school have any contacts with charter organisations?
