confused

hey guys

I plan to do my add on for fixed wing in the summer in the states with a view of starting a professional pilot programme in october. I am an international student, so therefore a m1 school would be ideal. I can take a year or two out of work but will be on a tight budget. Just wondering if any of ye has advice on what schools look for the the student and not just there own pockets, wheather I am going the right route to be employable in the next 2/3 years (i know there is a downturn in aviation at the moment), I am 27 am i wasing my time, do ye recommend professional courses. I would also train in Canada or here in Europe if it was benical to me and cost effective. Any advice on any of the above or other routes i could take would be a great help.So confused from all the research over the past few months.

Thank you
