5 Years.

After that you need an extended medical at Gatwick.

After another 5 years you need a full initial medical at Gatwick.

I thought it was three years and then it is up the discretion of the CAA. I believe they can make you go back to Gatwick for renewal if the lapse is between 3 and 5 years. After 5 years its definitely back to Gatwick (I had to do my last renewal back at the CAA).

My local AME says if it expires more than 30 days then Gatwick will have to give confirmation for re-issue (which shouldn't be a problem).
