training after UK ATPL

After obtaining a UK ATPL, in which countries is it possible to have the training for CPL/IR ?

Somebody says only in UK, somebody says only in some JAA countries, somebody says in all JAA countries.

On Bristol.gs website it seems that you can have the 14 exams in UK, than continue with CPL/IR in one of the countries where Bristol.gs has partners.

Well, it's not so clear, anybody with experience about that or with a good knowledge at least?

Thanks

That sounds a logical answer Gulfstream, but the rules are what is important and I am not sure that they follow the same approach (which would be the one I prefer)

Hi Rallymadness,

As I understand it (possibly wrongly) After taking the UK ATPL exams you then have to train for the CPL at an FTO authorized by the UK CAA. Most of these are in UK but there are exceptions such as oba, oft and naples in Florida.

From reading through these forums it seems that you could also request permission from the CAA to train for the CPL in another JAA state. Although this seems to be theoretical as I haven't seen any threads where someone has actually done this.

The IR is a rating so can be taken in any JAA state and added to a UK License.

Hi,

You must to the CPL in a UK CAA approved FTO, but you can do the IR training in any JAA member state (as moona is writing). You can take a look at the UK CAA homepage where you can find the list of UK CAA approved schools regarding the CPL.

Well, I have just received an email from Scandinavian Academy, and they told me that CPL-ME/IR can be done with them after UK atpl Theory, because it's a JAA country....

I start to be confused. I don't think that Scandinavian Academy is a CAA approved FTO, but despite of this, they told me "yes you can do it". They simply require a JAA ATPL, in whichever jaa nation obtained (it seems)....
