Help - Confused PPl-Frozen ATPL!

Hi all. I have recently gained my PPL, and am looking at my options and finances to take the commercial route. I am well aware this is going to cost the earth, but having looked at a couple of JAA websites in the states I am now VERY CONFUSED!
Could anybody tell me what is needed and give arough idea of cost to get from my stage, upto frozen ATPL. I am thinking of doing the bulk of the training in the states due to cost, again can anybody give me any pointers?
I have just short of 120 hours total time, so I need to get a few more hours under my belt here in the UK, and plan to get the night rating this winter.
I have been told I need to complete all ATPL exams before starting the CPL course, any advice on getting the books - used/new?
I am in the process of getting my class 1 medical sorted, so that no waste comes to any of the money I have not Got!!

To start with, I'm no expert so anyone can feel free to point out my mistakes.
As far as i know you need 150 hrs TT with a night qual and 100 PIC. Part of this has to be a 300nm cross country. There are several schools of thought as far as the ATPL's go, BGS seem to be the preffered provider and they charge 800 for Mod 1 and 1300 for mod 2 i think. Books and brush up included (distance btw) but exams are 65 each on top (x14). Also allow for the question bank at varying cost depending on how long you require access.
If you only require commercial they do a course tailored to just the CPL but i would immagine its the fATPL your after.
As far as the US is concerned thats another one where there are mixed views. My take on it is this, if the quality of training you recieve out there is of a good standard then you could save money. My theory behind this is that when you get back you will have to sit the IR test and that requires 15 hours minimum training, so if your training was good you could do it in minimum and save some coin. If it wasnt you could well end up forking out more of your hard earned for expensive twin time getting up to scratch.
I would immagine that you should be looking at these costs;
GS - 2100
Exams - 910
CPL - 6000
IR - 12000
Living - ????
Costs vary, as does the standard of training.
Also be aware that EASA are looking at scuppering a lot of the US JAA outfits with the new "must hold the license you teach rule" (ie. US instructors will require EASA tickets)
