If you read LASORS you'll find that you actually don't need a night qualification to start your CPL, simply that if you don't have one you must have the extra 5hrs night training as part of your CPL. Section D1.2(D).

Does that help?

I did mine at Southend Flying Club in May, and I think they do them all year round. The only problem is there is a 50 pound/landing surcharge if you land after 2300LT, but it wasn't a problem for me, don't know if it would be now.

Regards.

I think what he's getting at is that it's no longer called a night rating. It's a night qualification. Once you've got it, you've got it. As a qualification it doesn't need revalidating, whereas a rating does.
