Which flight school?
Hi! I'm here in Florida for my ppl. I'd like to change my visa from M-1 to J-1.
I found some interesting schools: ari ben and phoenix aviation.
someone can give some info about these schools? I should visite them in the next days.... but if someone had bad or good experience, just let me know
are there other schools who provide a J-1 visa with the possibility to convert FAA to JAA licenses??
thx a lot!

J-1's are soon to be a thing of the past according to the US immigration website. They are going to be permantly discontinued in 2010. I am not certain if that means you must be completed by then on the J-1 or if they are not issuing them after then.
I do not recommend Ari Ben Aviator. Too many maintenance issues and the management people are not very nice to students.

I'd like to switch because I would like to work here in the states as instructor (many schools are looking for instructors now, it's a good period for it, low dollar, many europeans and many from asia (expecially indians, but soon they say the chinese are going to come) are here to study)
phoenix seems more professional and with a modern fleet, but more expansive.
the good thing about ari ben is they use multi a lot.
I heard the thing about j1 but I think I should be on time to accomplish one

Another word of warning about Ari-Ben. Given the huge number of problems with this school, it will take much longer to go through their program, leaving less time to work as an instructor. You'll also find that their hidden charges and fees make them no cheaper than the other schools with the newer (and safer) fleets. Ari-Ben also pays their instructors significanly less than other schools in the area.
