IR Renewal/Revalidation

After searching the forum to try to answer my question, I am now a little more confused than I was previously.

My IR expires in Sept, after revalidating it last year. What are the consequences of not revalidating it in Sept? A renewal? How does this differ from a revalidation?

In terms of test content it isn't any different, but if you flew the last test you could revalidate the IR in a sim (FNPT2) this time round. To Renew though it has to be a/c and for MEP privilege has to be a/c anyway.

Exclamation JAA Multi IR Renewal/Revalidation outside of the UK

Guys

Whilst on this subject can anybody recommend a flight school to revalidate a JAA Multi IR outside of the UK in order to keep the costs down?
Revalidated last year in the sim so unfortunately will have to do a few hours in the plane this time round.

Thanks in advance.

So, if I don't plan to use my IR priviledges during the year or so it would be valid should I choose to revalidate it, then there would be no point, and my best bet would be to renew at some point in the future?
