ATPL ground studies - distance learning
Hi everyone,
Having read a number of thread with regards to distance learning, what are peoples feelings towards the best provider for the ATPL ground studies. Currently Bristol, Cabair & then Oxford are in the running. Any advice from other students would be of great help

Id place my money on Oxford, the level of knowledge and teaching amongst the ground training instructors was very impressive. But then again, like most others, I only went to one organisation for my ground school, so comparison is hard ...

Ground Training Services at Bournemouth. They are distance learning specialists. Absolutly superb! Roger Henshaw is the Head honcho. Combine them with the Bristol Q bank and you have a lethal combination!! Add some hard work ( and they will work you hard!! they are ex RAF so no pussy footing around!!) and you will do very well!

As said earlier, students only go to one provider, so even someone who has completed cannot answer your question.
That said, in a nutshell, I've not heard many bad things about any of the schools. Most seem to go to Bristol and they worked for me.
One thing which is a universally accepted is signing up to the Bristol online question bank. Almost madatory!
Probably best off choosing the one closest/most convienient for you.

I did my distance learning through oxford and found them very good, if I had a question I shot it over to them in email and would have a answer within a couple of hours! On the brush op courses you have the opportunity to stay in their rooms which are on the airport at a fair price and in the evenings you can go to the computer room where they have all their training cd’s online for you to use, as well as having a go on the practice sims, which are in the same room! Like all the other posts you simply HAVE to use the Bristol question bank, one word for it BRILLIANT!

DL with oxford. The books are comprehensively written which makes some subjects seem more complex than they are and can lead to hours and hours of reading but in the wrong direction. But for future reference and looking good on the shelf OAA books are hard to beat.
Brush up courses at OAA good and relaxed, was sad at the end of the phase 1 course,great fun, second phase was a bit dull but very good for exam prep.
Bought Bristol notes on ebay to supplement my studies and found them to be spot on for the exams, quick and easy to read with many sentences referring to actual questions (not verbatim) and I like the aide memoirs in the margins.
As stated before you must use Bristol’s online question bank, I recognised most questions in the actual exam!!!That Alex is very clever!
