FAA ATP to ATPL Convertor - Questions....

Hi,

I've been looking for answers and think I have a handle on what's required but would love to get some feedback...

I'm currently flying Dash 8's - 200 as a Captain - closing in on 500 hours (command) and 3000 total time with 2100 in Multi Crew environment.

Married a Scottish fellow and trying to convert and move to the UK.

First do I understand correctly that the requirements are:

1 - Pass a first class medical that is taken at Gatwick

2- Pass the 14 exams - WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU FAIL ONE - do you have to pay the fee again - any links to where this question is answered?

Here is where I'm quite confused...Do I need to do a flight test? I'm doing a type rating in an A320 in October in Miami - it's a JAA certified course, does this qualify as a flight test or do I need to have a CAA examiner observe the checkride for the type rating?

How about the IR - is that automatic for my experience level?

Is there anything that I'm missing?

ALSO - I've heard that some companies get a waiver for experienced pilots regarding the exams - Which companies have done this - Flybe? EasyJet?

Thanks for the help!!
