Is 32 too old to go from 0 to ATPL?
Hi becoming a Pilot has always been my dream. But because of the lack of openings and restrictions I never attempted to pursue the idea.
After ten years of drifting in and out of various jobs I became unemployed. During four years of nothing I decided to retrain for suitable positions in the IT industry.
I managed to get my first job through a UK charity that help people get back into work and I now earn what is deemed as a good wage.
This lesson in life has made me believe that you should go for something if you really want it. I now have the money to pay for any 0 to ATPL course which alone is a great achievement in my life.
But sadly I am at the wrong age and mentality to start pursuing something, when I have only just settled into some form of stability.
I may rue not deciding to go ahead with the decision to become an ATPL pilot and feel that I wasted my life. From my work window I watch all the departing traffic from LHR and dream.
If only the job centre could have put me on such as scheme lol.
All that I can do now is my PPL.

Indeed not. Trial lesson aged 29, qualified and first job aged 36.
There are many, many others with similar stories (Captain Pprune included).

I still have a long way to go. It will take me over a year to get my PPL. Once I complete that only then will I know if I should go ahead.
How long can it take from PPL to ATPL and cost?
Thanks
