Have I left it too late?

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, although I have lurked sporadically for years.

I'm a BCPL holder with a FI(R) - although my FI rating has lapsed now. I passed the CPL writtens many years ago and have about 500hrs total - about half of that instructing.

I'm now 43 and have a nice fat mortgage :-( and a well paid job in software development :-)

So my quandary is... I keep looking at completing my ATPL and much as I desperately wish to move to the "office with the best view", I can't help feeling that at my age I've missed the boat really. Am I right?

Sure, I could chuck it all in and make the wife & kids live in a bedsit but that's a bit selfish really isn't it... would I have any realistic chance of getting back to a decent income before I'd have to retire?

Your thoughts would be appreciated...

cheers,
[dave]
