Move to UK flying

Alright, here's my deal. I'm heading to the UK to live next year and will be moving my flying career from the States. I've been flying with United for the last ten years as a B737 copilot with 6000+ hours and then 3300 hours with the US Navy flying P3's and C12's. I only have 1200 hours PIC time, all in the Navy.

I'm just about to start tackling the distance learning of the 14 writtens for the ATPL and then I'll start working on the flight conversion.

Any words of advice on how to best go about doing this? I figure I can do the ATPL writtens in the next 6-9 months, get the flying done after that and be ready to apply to the British carriers after that (about 1 year from now). I'm wondering if I'd be able to knock out a B737 conversion in a simulator. Any other shortcuts I might be able to take, to make this impending process easier? Looking for some ideas. Thanks.
