what can i do?

I will try to keep this short and sweet for you guys. I have decided i would like to live and work somewhere in Europe. I am currently enrolled at ATP and have a whopping 12 hours logged. I have read as much as I could find on FAA to JAA conversion. For example; this, and this, but i am still so confused it hurts. I would just love to know the least painful, costly, and timely way to go about it.
Why cant I just take the JAA exams and check rides after doing them here in the US? Or can I? How much $?
Is there a list of airlines that hire FAA pilots in Europe?
If I somehow got a regional job in Europe under FAA would i ever be able to move up? Would they pay for me to get JAA?

I have so many more questions but I said I would keep it short. Thanks for any advice.

Aaron
