I'm with A&C and BlueRobin here. Cost savings are nowhere near as big a people think - for a start, if you stay in the UK you can work as well as build hours and may be able to stay with family to save accommodation costs.
You will also gain experience using UK airspace - the same airspace in which you will do your CPL and IR. That will make a BIG difference when it comes to local area knowledge and familiarity with UK R/T procedures.
