South france flying schools
The closest GA friendly airport to Nice is Cannes-Mandelieu (LFMD). It has few "aeroclubs" (UACA, Aeroclub d'Antibes, etc).
Cannes Aviation ( www.cannesaviation.com) is FTO.
You can do your PPL training in any "aeroclub", but Cannes Aviation is the only option for further training (CPL, IR, etc) down here.

PM me if you want some more info...I live in Nice & have had some dealings with the local clubs in Cannes & am N.O.T. impressed so far, to put it mildy!!
And there is very little choice...
Cannes Aviation appear to be an exception, being an FTO but are extremely expensive (300 euros / hour for a DA40) for France. I've yet to fly with them, but they appear a professional outfit.
There's nothing at Nice...
I'm contemplating going to Montpellier at weekends, where's there's allegedly a more serious school, I'm getting so desperate!
Another thing to note is most of these schools (Cannes Aviation being an exception) will have a great of trouble raising an instructor prepared to fly in English...
