Question Line training

Hi everyone,

For the last half-a-year or so I've done a lot of research and have stumbled upon various expressions/terms, but I'm still confused about line training.

What's the definition of it

Line Flying is day to day flying in an airline.

Line Training is training "on the line."

Once you've done your type rating you are trained to fly the aircraft but all you will of only ever done is a few circuits, so the next stage is to train you how to operate it on the line with passengers. Typically this will be around 50 sectors with a training captain.

Take a look at this thread.

Also a recent post stated that a student from a well known "line experience" company was sent packing to Morocco where he's barely getting any hours (30hrs a month). Though it does still count for something at the end of the day but it's not all a bed of roses or some simple short cut by seeing an advert and interpreting it as the way forward between the parting red sea.

It is "line training" and it is "hour building". It is merely an extension of your training but most importantly:-

It is "EXPERIENCE"

Putting your hand in your pocket for a CPL etc is absolutely no different to putting your hand in your pocket for Line Experience.

Everyone's perspective is different whether you are a 23 year old Oxford Graduate with your balls on fire or you are a 45 year old accountant who has always dreamed of being a pilot.

That's me off my soapbox.
