Anyone have any thoughts on.....
....the Orlando Flight Training scheme that sees you do 12 months of training followed by twelve as an instructor to get you up to 1,000 hours followed by a guaranteed interview with Colgan Air?

Any info much appreciated. As a Brit, would this be an option, and would getting a green card be simple enough with pilot's qualifications should I choose to remain in the US for a career?
I have about 40k cash to put towards my flying at this stage. OFT's course is well under this amount.

here's my 2 cents, being in the same position you were 8 years ago.
getting a green card with pilot qualifications, is impossible. unless you hit the 1 in 50000 lottery, your only other option is marriage.
having a 1000 hours in the US is overrated at the moment. my company places cfis in the right seat of jets at 400 hours right now.
i myself went the airline route in the US and don't agree with the overworked and underpaid mentality. my business patrner as well went thru the same route and doesn't want to look at an airline again.
colgan.... it's a turboprop gig. props are being phased out. granted they just landed a gig for CAL and have dash 8 q400, but everyone is leaning towards jets.
get your JAA ATPL find yourself a cheap type rating (oxymoron) and get a job on the EU. you will appreciate it more.

You will strugle to get on that course, it is for US citizens only.
OFT arnt authorised to sponsor for the J1 visa, so unless they want you to do it on the M1 visa, then you cant.

I could probably get a job in the RHS of a small jet /tp in the US right now, as Im a dual citizen with sufficient flight time in the US. But the pay there is less than $20k a year to start, and it doesn't get much better for a few years. On top of that, friends already in the industry over there tell me you are worked like a slave for those wages.Thus Im struggling with finishing the conversion process to JAA.
So even if it were possible, I wouldn't bother. Just my opinion.
