JAR, FAA and CASA

Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone can outline the differences between the JAR theory syllabus and the FAA theory syllabus. I realise that you need to convert it and some of you might have done so.
Ive got my CASA (australia) ATPL credits and was just wondering how CASA differs from FAA and JAR. Is it harder?
Why the difference between european and american?
