Another year gone by.

Merry xmas people,

When I had my first flight in a Cessna 5 years back - I was totally hooked, it was what I would eventually like to do in life. Be a professional pilot.

Unfortunately, 5 years on and amongst other things. I have been held back in starting to learn how to fly.

However, come the new year. I will be in a position to kick start my desire in learning how to fly with the overall objective of flying for an airline at some point.

What I would like to ask is;

When learning to fly, what does the training consist of (a basic questions but I have had little luck searching).

I have no problems moving abroad - although, I believe that JAA is the required grading. Therefore, where is the most recommended place to fly. In terms of costs, quality etc. I do not mind moving anywhere.

I am pretty sure I will want to do a integrated course. Does anyone have any major feedbacks on this.

Thanks for all your help.
Francesca

There's:

Cabair - www.ccat.org.uk
Oxford Aviation www.oxfordaviation.net
Flight Training Europe - www.flighttrainingeurope.com
CTC McAlpine - http://www.ctcaviation.com/wings/index.htm

It might be worthwhile contacting the FTO's and they will be able to provide you with details regarding cost, facilities and their selection process. Oxford's is the most expensive, although i would say Flight Training Europe and Oxford's APP course are pretty much the same sort of deal. I stayed cleared of Cabair, in my opinion it doesn't compare to the afforementioned two!! CTC McAlpine offer a sponsorship type scheme and if you are fortunate enough to get on their course it's by far the best the UK can offer. Although it is a very difficult and stringent selection process, or it least it was when i went 4 years ago!! There's a huge amount of information on all 4 FTO's on this forum, it is definately worthwhile having a read through them and giving the search function a whirl

All the best
