Odd one out!

Hello,

First time posting on here so please be gentle!

I have tried searching so I hope this hasn't been covered already.

I don't want to fly jets, I want to fly props-pax or freight, not really bothered. Do i need to follow the "standard" entry routes?

I have £70-100k to get myself the best chance of a job after so what is the best path?

Hope someone can help, cheers

Rob

P.S. I have 9 years crew experience on RAF hercs as a loadie!!

This thread might give you a couple of clues. As you'll gather, pay for non-airline professional flying ranges from pretty poor to below-minimum-wage levels. That's not how I'd recommend anyone invest £100,000 at your stage of life. If the money is just something you'd fritter away anyway then flying's as good a way to fritter it as any, but if you seriously need to earn a living, you want to spend as little of that capital as possible.

If you read this thread, you'll find all you need to know - including how much it'll cost you if you're careful with your money. Within that thread you'll find a link to the 'Am I too Old...' perpetual thread. To cut it short, you're not - but it's not easy as you approach 40.

Good luck!

I earn more than most turbo-prop FOs, and many non-airline Jet FOs. I fly single-crew, not even training people yet, not even turbo-prop yet. The company treats me very well, so reducing the cost of living for me. It is possible to earn OK flying on the lighter side!

I suspect you are the exception rather than the rule.
